Luis Léon Sánchez joins Caja Rural

Category: Cycling

Luis Léon Sanchez has now signed a contract with Caja Rural-Seguros RGA.

In February this year, Rabobank decided to suspend Sanchez indefinitely, as they would investigate the past relationship between the rider and Eufemiano Fuentes, a doctor who is accused of having provided athletes with doping substances and performing blood transfusions. He was soon reinstated in the team though, but in October 2013, Belkin Pro Cycling announced that the Spaniard would be dropped from the team as a result of accusations linking him to the Operación Puerto doping case.

Luis Léon Sanchez has won four Tour de France stages, the Clasíca San Sebastián on two occasions and taken the overall classifications of the Tour Down Under (2005) and Paris-Nice (2009) during his career.

Caja Rural-Seguros RGA has also signed Angél Madrazo from Movistar, Pello Bilboa from Euskaltel, Davide Vigáno from Lampre-Merida, Colombian Heiner Parra and the Spaniards Luís Mas, Fernando Grijalba, Antonio Molina and Ruben Martinez.
