Daniele Bennati became the winner of Giro di Sardegna as he won the race ahead of Oscar Gatto and Alessandro Ballan. Bennati also finished second at the stage and therefore secured the victory. Alessandro Petacchi won the stage and therefore managed to add his name to the Tour of Sardinia's stage winners list. Petacchi has had a great race, but he has failed, until now, to take a victory. Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Androni Giocattoli's Manuel Belletti was third.
