My name is Elin - A pro cycling lover's reflections

There's a mountain between us (at least it feels that way)

I will continue with yet another thing about the Dutch professional team, Vacansoleil. They wish for a wildcard to the Giro d'Italia. The team manager Daan Luijkx said, according to Pezcyclingnews.com, that his squad has a 65% chance at a Wild Card.
"We have Matteo Carrara and Clement Lhotellerie for GC. With Bobbie Traksel, Borut Bozic, and now Baden Cooke we can also contend in the sprints. We now have a team that has a chance to get in a Grand Tour."
It's true that they have good riders, who could do pretty well and perhaps win a stage. It will be a real competition to get that wildcard, no matter what team, so all I can do is to wish them luck and hopefully we will see them racing in the Italian stage race. I am not totally sure that they will bring Sergey Lagutin though if they received a wildcard. I think they want him to do well in the one day races, including the spring classics, so that's what they will beg him to do, or what do you think? Lagutin is a rider that always do fairly well, he is not a quiter and he always fight to finish well, but the Giro d'Italia? No, I'm not totally convinced.

See you tomorrow. Love.

Ps. Cofidis, La Francaise Des Jeux and Bouygues Telecom have all said no to participate in the 100th Giro d'Italia next year, but did anyone think they would be welcome anyway?
